Welcome to The Gathering Place at Sugar Mountain, where rustic mountain charm meets comfort, space, and unforgettable views. Perched in a private, secluded setting overlooking Sugar Mountain, this 5-bedroom, 4-bath retreat is designed for relaxing, reconnecting, and making memories—any season of the year.

Start your mornings on one of two spacious decks, coffee in hand, soaking in sweeping mountain views. After a day of skiing, hiking, or exploring, unwind in the private 5-seat hot tub or cozy up by the wood-burning fireplace in the living room, complete with plush reclining seating and a Smart TV for movie nights.

The home comfortably sleeps large groups with a thoughtful layout. The main level features three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, including a king master with en-suite bath and two queen bedrooms. Downstairs, two additional bedrooms—one king and one queen, each with a futon and private bath—offer extra privacy and direct walk-out access to the lower deck and views. Every bedroom is equipped with a Smart TV for added comfort.

The open-concept kitchen and dining area overlook Sugar Mountain, making every meal part of the experience. With easy access via a flat driveway just off the main highway, you’re close to it all while still enjoying peace and privacy. Sugar Mountain Ski Resort is only 4 minutes away, with a shuttle stop right by the house. Banner Elk is 10 minutes away, Grandfather Mountain 20 minutes, and Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville, restaurants, and the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster are all close by.

The view from the back deck is absolutely AMAZING. My family had a wonderful long weekend at this house. The beds were comfortable and house had everything we needed. Owner was very responsive to any questions or issue we had. Would stay here again.

Our trip was fabulous. The Gathering is perfect and the 5 bedrooms and large room with the fireplace was wonderful! . Extra firewood and many items were available. We hope we have the opportunity to rent again next fall!

We had a good time overall and really enjoyed our stay. The views of Sugar Mountain were beautiful and made the trip worthwhile. The property was well located and provided good information for our visit.However, the bathrooms could use some upgrades, and it would be helpful to have extra basic supplies available. We also had a little difficulty finding the entrance initially.Despite these small issues, we had a good experience and enjoyed our time at Sugar Mountain. Thank you!

Very old dirty run down furniture. Old carpet in places where you came in from the hot tub thus getting it wet. Cabin had a funny smell, not sure how to describe it. I must say it was clean but needs a serious update.

The spectacular view of a remote location, yet, actual walking distance to amenities! Private, spacious, and functional.Its large, open living area and deck were perfect for gathering; both offered lounge and dining seating, and an unobstructed view of Sugar Mountain Ski resort.Its 3 en-suite bedrooms meant our married children had their own space.Its - rare for the mountains - flat driveway AND parking area were large enough to 3-point turn our Ford Expedition.Its vehicular entrance is hidden in plain view on a main road, so we didn't need a 4WD because we couldn't have been snowed in, yet there was zero traffic noise because of the length of the driveway.There are two route options from the home to the Sugar Mountain Ski resort, and both are a verified 5 minute drive.We are planning to stay here again for winter 2026/7, and watch Sugar Mountain's fireworks display from the deck.
