Grove Cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Grove Cottage. It was a lovely space to stay in and had everything that we needed. The Welcome Pack was fabulous and such a thoughtful gift when we arrived.

A great family stay in beautiful Bamburgh, which could be perfect if a couple of things were fixed in the property. A beautiful large house, 3 double and 1 twin bedrooms, 3 toilets - two with showers, one with a bath, open plan downstairs with a large dining area and log fire. Cosy and warmed up quickly due to multiple heaters around. Great facilities provided - stair gate, high chair, clothes airer, large fridge/freezer, plenty of towels cutlery pots pan trays etc. Loved the welcome pack - a lovely surprise so won’t spoil it all but the sausages were amazing! Wood flooring which was perfect for us with dogs especially after nearby beach walks. The beach is in walking distance and beautiful towards sea houses. However, a couple of minor issues easily resolved… an overwhelming smell around the downstairs bedroom/bathroom, like off cabbage?! Which they must be aware of as it was the only area an air freshener was provided. The oven was pretty much unusable as all of the settings and near enough all the temperature markings had faded around the dial - we did try to contact somebody but due to the lack of signal in the property this was impossible. Finally, there were bits of confetti and notes found around the property which may have been from previous guests? But we had to keep a close eye on a crawling little one as he kept finding these and putting them in his mouth! Despite this couple of issues we would definitely stay here again, just what we needed.

Would not recommend
The floors downstairs were extremely slippery and out dog was hurting herself walking on them. Luckily, we had 5 rigs and some dog blankets with us so she could as be able to move about.
The downstairs is all open plan and so nowhere to put the dog (eg the kitchen) without her having access to the lunge and dining areas.
The hob was dirty down one side and the control dials numbers were illegible, so it was difficult to set it at the required temperature.
The only way to get hot water was to press a button in a cupboard in the dining area to boost which only went on for half an hour. This was mentioned in the literature but I have never been in any previous cottage where there was not immediate hot water and the boost would only be needed if you had used a huge amount of hot water.
The door to the ensuite was so stuck my husband thought that the handle was going to come off when he opened it. North Easy Escapes did offer to come and fix it.
The upstairs shower had a warning that the shower was slippery when wet but there was no shower mat so impossible to use safely. I put a hand towel down in the downstairs shower, so it was ok. Out daughter and family were meant to be joining us but we felt it was not safe for a 3- and 7-year-old and so we only stayed one night out of 5 booked – which made a very expensive one night break!
