We enjoyed everything about Vila Gale. The one area which was a bit lacking was the buffet dinner. We would have probably enjoyed the A La Carte menu more. The stewed beef was not very tender and aside from the beef dish and the salmon in puff pastry, there wasn’t much other choice. My husband had the pasta which was good but again, the choices of vegetables, etc to add to the pasta were limited. Otherwise, we very much enjoyed our stay at Vila Gale and were very impressed with the view.

Beautiful hotel, accommodating staff, and incredible views! While we enjoyed the quiet and seclusion, it would have been helpful to have a car as there was no hotel provided transportation into any of the nearby towns.

Property is beautiful. They definitely embellish their amenities though. The food is buffet style with plenty of microwave style pizza and refrigerated fish nuggets. We left the property for food and wine options. The rooms are clean but small and decor resembles a 1970’s Burger King. It’s really a tale of two places… Not terrible, but would not return or recommend. Especially when every other Quinta has beautiful views as well.

Faire attention quand vous réservez votre chambre. Les suites non pas toutes un balcon et une belle vue. Les chambres standard ont de meilleures vue et elles ont un balcon. Nous avons été fort déçu en apprenant que le souper était un buffet et non un service à la carte. Impossible de pouvoir déguster leur vins si vous n’avez pas fait une réservation au préalable.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Booked us a wine tasting and tour at check in. Recommended restaurants in the area. Breakfast buffet was delicious, lots of fresh food choices and an omelette station. Great pool area with breathtaking views of the Douro River. Comfy sun loungers. Our room was clean and spacious. Only downside was a lot of steps up and down from our room to the restaurant and pool. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

This hotel is very nice. The views from our room on the upper terrace were amazing. However, with that came the long steep walk up and down to get to the “bar” or restaurant. The room was very clean and ac worked great. You need to ask at the front desk if you want a hot pot and instant coffee for the room. The walls are kind of thin and we had a very loud group in the room next to us one night. The bar really is not a bar. It is a couple of booths in the corner of the restaurant behind a few curtains. The breakfast was very good. The food in the “bar” was just okay. Did not have the dinner buffet. With that being said we would definitely stay here again.

There were a lot of stairs to navigate with luggage from the car. The views however are spectacular. Breakfast would have been nice but the dishes were not replenished, so many items were missing. The property itself is stunning

As the name implies, set in Douro valley with great view of the river below. We used as a rest stop, with no touring. Beautiful location with nice sunrise and sunsets. Nice room, but steps to and from meals and pool. Best be fit to enjoy the area.

Great experience at the hotel/winery

Everyone was welcoming and helpful during our stay. The front desk set up a wine tour and a restaurant reservation for us, which we appreciated. The view from the room was lovely. A coffee option in the room would have been nice, but the breakfast buffet opens at 8 and had many options. The dinner buffet was convenient for a late night arrival.

The vineyard is truly beautiful. The scenery is outstanding and really adds the the luxurious feeling of this hotel. The bed was enormous, it was like having a whole double bed each. The food selection on breakfast and evening was good and not overly expensive. The only complaint would be the wait time on drinks by the pool, there was only one staff member to make drinks and sort food orders so we were often waiting a long time for drinks. This was pacified by having two pools to cool off in and lounge by. I’d absolutely stay again.
