Very central. Friendly staff and clean, comfortable room. Expensive for what it is. If you want peace, quiet and genteel luxury this is not the hotel for you. If you want to experience Edinburgh at it’s must lively it is perfect. Older style and rather quirky with lively pub attached to Hotel.

Great room in awesome location. We were able to walk to the castle, do th royal mile down to the palace and then walk up Carlton hill in a great day out, then walk back to our room from there and have a great meal and a Guinness at the Irish pub next door.

"Comfortable bed, room, excellent food, friendly staff. Just parking was difficult, had a 5 minute walk from the nearest free parking up the hill. Also maybe breakfast was a bit late at 8am. This is nit picking though, would stay there again and recommend it to others"
