About this property
D&D Lodge | An Architectural Retreat in Central Otago
D&D Lodge is a private architectural retreat set amongst the dramatic landscapes of Central Otago, designed for guests seeking space, privacy, and quiet luxury.
Built in 2025 and designed by New Zealand architect Regan Johnston, the Lodge is intentionally understated, allowing the surrounding landscape to take centre stage. Natural textures, premium materials, and bespoke finishes create a warm, elegant atmosphere throughout, with beautifully crafted cedar gallery walls subtly framing curated artworks and expansive mountain views.
From its elevated position on Earnscleugh Ridge, large windows capture sweeping outlooks across the Old Man, Cairnmuir, Dunstan, and Hawkdun Ranges. Seasonal light transforms the Lodge throughout the day, while indoor and outdoor fires provide comfort year-round, from long golden summer evenings to crisp winter days beneath snow-dusted peaks.
The Lodge offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a master bedroom with ensuite and a shared bathroom. Thoughtful layout, automated blackout blinds, and discreet modern amenities ensure comfort without detracting from the calm and simplicity of the space.
Set on a large rural property, guests have exclusive use of the Lodge and access to private walking tracks with historic gold-mining features woven through the landscape. Despite its peaceful setting, D&D Lodge is just minutes from Alexandra and Clyde, with easy access to Central Otago’s vineyards, cycling trails, rivers, and outdoor pursuits.
D&D Lodge is designed as a quiet, private retreat and is best suited to couples, families, and discerning travellers seeking stillness, privacy, and a refined connection to place. No parties, events, or pets are permitted. Heating & Cooling Indoor heating and cooling is available via heat pumps and air conditioning. There are two zones throughout the Lodge: Master Bedroom Living/Kitchen area and Bedrooms 1 & 2 One control pad operates the Master Bedroom and is located on the wall as you enter. Two control pads operate the Living/Kitchen area and Bedrooms 1 & 2. These are located on the cedar wall near the Entrance/Kitchen and outside Bedrooms 1 & 2. Both control pads operate the same system. Bedrooms 1 & 2 cannot be set at a different temperature from the Living/Kitchen area. You may need to shut bedroom doors to retain heat or cool rooms more quickly. Please avoid setting extreme temperatures.
Water & Septic Tank As the Lodge is rural, we are not connected to the town water or septic systems. To protect our septic system, we kindly ask that sanitary items are not flushed and are disposed of in the bin provided. There are spare bin liners in each of the bathroom cupboards.
