I stayed at the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel and had mixed feelings about my experience. One of the standout positives of this hotel is its perfect location, which is convenient for exploring Shinjuku and the surrounding areas. However, there were some significant downsides to my stay. Firstly, the noise level was a major issue. The limited space in the capsules didn’t do much to insulate against the noise, making it difficult to get a peaceful night’s sleep. Another downside was the shared bathroom and sauna facilities. While shared amenities are common in capsule hotels, the fact that you have to share them with 10 to 20 other people can be uncomfortable, especially when it comes to the communal showers. Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of my stay was the strict check-out policy. Even if you’ve booked a longer stay, you’re required to leave the hotel from 10 am to 2 pm every day. This can be incredibly inconvenient, especially in adverse weather conditions. The small cabinet on level 3 provided for storage was insufficient, forcing guests to leave their larger bags in an open area, which raised security concerns. In conclusion, the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel has an excellent location but falls short in terms of noise levels, shared facilities, and the restrictive check-out policy. It’s important to consider these factors when choosing accommodation in Shinjuku.

Disappointing

I stayed in the capsule hotel as part of my Japanese experience. I’m not very tall (5 foot 11) but had to sleep diagonally because the capsule was too short. Also they were made of some type of fibre glass or plastic which creaked and rattled every time a neighboring guest moved or raised/lowered his blind. The sleeping floor was hot and stuffy with no air flow or ventilation. The capsule was dusty inside. Not worth the cheap price I paid for the accomodation and better off paying more for comfort elsewhere

Dissappointing

You don’t expect much for $46 Aud a night but did expect cleaninless. My capsule was dusty and hadn’t been wiped over before my stay. The capsule area was hot with poor ventilation and over night the lights were not dimmed contributing to a poor sleep. Also other guests were relatively noisy in the morning despite hotel etiquette and rules advising against this. I’m only 5,11 tall and needed to sleep diagonal to stretch out in the capsule. I understand that traditionally Japanese are not tall but surely in a modern hotel the larger/taller individual can now be taken into consideration. Would not recommend as even the Japanese experience aspect of it doesn’t compensate for the night i spent there
