A strong chemical smell filled the room. It did not smell like a cleaning liquid but I could not say what it was. I had to sleep with the window open and the fan on full.

Despite being quite comfortable there were a few problems with the advertising of the place. The property description suggested washing and drying machine with the apartment we found we had to pay fir drying in a separate area. This also needed coins that fortunately the door guy was able to give us. Despite offering “free wifi” we were only given 2 vouchers for 5 of us in 2 apartments.

All units have a washing machine in a 1 bedroom apartment or if booked as a 2 bedroom apartment the same . "Door guy" ? I am the manager of the complex and as I did not have change on hand gave you change out of my own pocket . The dryer is in guest laundry . Complimentary wifi is available for Free for one device per room unlimited .

No manager available all weekend, no linnen change, not told ajoining room was a dual key with no sound proofing , very noisy ,3 story walk up no lift,the room needs a full renovation

John your being extremely hard here..... I am the manager of the Grosvenor Cairns I do remember speaking to you on several occasions and my housekeeping changed your towels as requested on a couple of occasions throughout the 5 night stay. Rooms serviced on the 7th day . We do also not operate a 24hr hotel reception . Had you wished for these I suggest you book the Hilton but be aware of the double prices. Regards Manager

We had an activity packed holiday and needed a nice place to sleep eat and relax. Grosvenor was perfect for everything we needed, close to everything and we were able to wash clothes every night

We asked for 2 single beds and 1 queen , and got 2 double beds instead, meaning one of us had to sleep on the couch. The wifi was inconsistent and didn't connect well.

Hi - I do apologise. I have spoken to the staff member who received your booking and confirmed that he missed reading your request for 1 queen and two single beds. Perhaps if you had returned to reception soon after entering the apartment, he may have been able to rectify the situation. The WiFi works really well nearly all the time. We have received no other complaints recently about the WiFi ...... most of the time we find that where guests are having difficulty connecting the reason has something to do with their device/s. Once again I do apologise about the bed situation (luckily the couch is very comfortable) - Brian (Manager)

We rented a self contained apartment which was very clean and comfortable with good kitchen and plenty of space. We were up high and it was quiet. The negatives are that there is no lift and heavy bags need to be carried upstairs which was ok for us but not for older clients. There appears to be some full time residents in the building so it isn't just holiday letting. This makes for a different vibe.

I stayed there for a conference and then snorkeling trip for 5 nights. Me, my husband, and 2 friends stayed in an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was clean and efficient, and staff was friendly. It’s a very old styled motel/apartment, as it’s not serviced. They only changed towels once. 2 soaps are provided as amenities, that’s it. Their pool was small and not super clean. Above all was ok, doesn’t bother me much. However there were 2 big problems for me, it was too far from the centre and too hot. It was far from where everything was, so spent more money on Uber. It takes 40 min walk to the reef terminal, shopping centre, or anything. It looks close on the map but not. There are many restaurants nearby though, which is very good. Also it was not airconditioned well. There was only one air condition in the queen bedroom. Only ceiling fans in the other room and in the lounge/kitchen. It was not super hot season and cool down at night (end of October) so we survived. Not sure if it was cheap either. If it was cheap, I would have accepted the fact that you get what you pay, but it was not. Regardless Cairns is beautiful city with lots of activities to do, so it was ok.

Great

I really enjoyed the place however the walls are paper thin. You can hear the echoes of people coming and going. I was afraid to turn my TV up to hear in case it was too loud and the guest next door would hear it. Overall enjoyed my stay and bed 😁 maybe needs more parking spaces for guests had to park my hire car on the street a few times.

Parking can be a problem in 'peak times' but there is plenty of parking right outside the complex. 95% of the time there is no problem with finding a park in the under-building car parks. The walls are actually concrete block ..... some guests are unfortunately just "noisy"- Brian

Disappointed by incorrect information

The Grosvenor is simply not very good. From the tired bed to the rusty shower, the towel rail hanging out of the wall, and general untidiness. The thing that I found particularly annoying was choosing this place as somewhere to relax after a challenging couple of days and watch a bit of tv on their “66 inch flat screen” - a lot closer to 6.6 than 66. I simply don’t see how this has achieved a 4/5 rating - maybe there are some nice rooms somewhere, but I certainly was not in one.
