Overview

  • Discover the timeless beauty of Hongcun and Xidi!

Entering Hongcun is like stepping into a living painting. A 900-year-old UNESCO treasure, Hongcun, shaped like a graceful ox, exudes poetic charm amidst shimmering lakes and ancient canals, earning it the nickname “China's Painting Village.” Stroll along moonlit ponds, admire ornate Qing Dynasty mansions, and watch artists capture their beauty.

Next, wander Xidi, a “Peach Blossom Spring” village boasting 300 Ming and Qing Dynasty courtyards adorned with exquisite wood carvings. Surrounded by mist-shrouded peaks, this is a photographer's dream, where every cobblestone whispers a whisper of history.

Taste the flavours of Anhui before exploring its bustling snack streets—from baozi dumplings to crispy ta guo—and return home filled with curiosity.

Note: The itinerary is subject to change based on weather conditions.

From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, explore the Xidi Scenic Area, known as the "Peach Blossom Spring." A treasure trove of ancient residential architecture, Xidi is a shining pearl on the Huangshan tourist route, nestled against Huangshan Mountain to the north and overlooking Baiyue Mountain to the south. Xidi boasts convenient transport. Over 300 ancient dwellings from the Ming and Qing dynasties remain in Xidi, 124 of which are well-preserved, earning it the nickname "Peach Blossom Spring." The architectural carvings, crafted in the Hui style of brick, stone, and wood, are exquisitely crafted, with intricate patterns and branches that seem to break with a pinch. The area is a favourite for art students sketching, and it's also a popular destination for photography enthusiasts.
