Wae Rebo, a remote and mystical traditional village nestled 1,200 metres above sea level in the lush mountains of Manggarai. This cultural heritage site is renowned for its iconic Mbaru Niang, the towering conical communal houses, and the village’s commitment to preserving ancestral traditions.
Our journey begins with a scenic drive through rugged landscapes, until we arrive at Cunca Wulang Waterfall. Here we will spend an hour swimming and diving in the refreshing pool under the waterfall. Then another 2-3 hours of driving to Denge Village where we can have lunch while enjoying the beauty of Molas Island. Followed by a 2.5–3 hour guided trek through dense forests, rich in tropical flora and birdsong. Upon arrival, we’ll be warmly welcomed with a traditional Manggarai ceremony, inviting us into the sacred space of the community.
We will spend the night in a Mbaru Niang alongside the villagers, sharing stories, local meals, and experiencing daily life as it has been lived for centuries — without electricity, Wi-Fi, or modern distractions. Witness weaving, coffee roasting, and ancient rituals, all performed with deep spiritual respect for nature and ancestors.
On the next day after breakfast we will hike back to Denge Village before drive for 2-3 hours to Lembor where we can have lunch. After lunch, on the way back to Labuan Bajo we will do a guided tour on a Weaving House. And to end this adventure we will do a 15 minutes hike to Sylvia Hill for a sunset time.
