What you can expect

We take you on a journey through five centuries full of crime, intrigue, and the abysses of the cathedral city. From the 16th century to the present day, we tell the stories of spectacular criminal cases and link them with insights into the history of the city and everyday life.

On Sundays in August and September, the guided tour also includes an interior tour of Münster's oldest prison: the Zwinger.

A PEACEFUL WORLD IN MÜNSTER? NOT AT ALL!
Encounter corpses in iron baskets high above the city, the still-unapprehended Münsterland murderer, and learn how the terror of the IRA reached Münster.

OF CAGES, CELLS, AND DARK ALLEYS
Discover the original crime scenes: from the pillory on the Prinzipalmarkt, to draughty cells in the Zwinger, to inconspicuous alleys that became crime scenes.

A LOOK BEHIND THE CRIMES
We not only show the crimes themselves, but also the world in which these acts took place, the social conditions that turned people into criminals, the forensic search for clues – and sometimes the adventurous gathering of evidence.

EXCLUSIVELY ON SUNDAYS IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER – TOUR OF THE ZWINGER
Finally, we visit one of the city's most impressive historical sites: Münster's oldest prison. Behind two-meter-thick walls, we trace the eventful, over 500-year history of the Zwinger and learn how power, crime, terror, and remembrance are concentrated in this place.
