What you can expect

This walking tour concentrates around the western area of North Adelaide, an historic precinct close to the CBD of Adelaide. Commencing from a large well planned square in the area, the tour winds its way past some distinctive homes as well as a church, school, shops and early residences ranging from some larger mansions skirting the fringe of the parklands to workers cottages and some row housing.

Stories are told about some of the early families of the district and how they survived during the early years of North Adelaide's growth. Another of the early sub-divisions of Adelaide is visited during the walk, which provided land for a growing population close to the city.

Some striking architecture is viewed along with the history of the area in mainly quiet streets with wide avenues. Participants will gain a sense of the North Adelaide culture which abounds even today.
