Description

Treat yourself to a tour of New Zealand's largest and most populated city on a rousing excursion to glimpse 4 of Auckland's volcanoes. Travel to Mount Wellington, Mangere Mountain, One Tree Hill, and Mount Eden, and pick up fascinating information about the Auckland volcanic field from your local host.

Join your approachable guide at Queens Wharf and set off in an air-conditioned van towards Mount Wellington. A 443-foot (135-m) volcanic peak, Mount Wellington is the youngest Auckland volcano—formed only 10,000 years ago. Meander its crater and summit, snapping photos of East Auckland and the tidal estuaries at Panmure Basin before loading back into the vehicle.

Next, visit Mangere Mountain, noting its unique lava dome near the centre—formed by the slow extrusion of lava flows 18,000 years ago. Take a break and enjoy your packed lunch at picturesque Mangere Bridge where you can watch boats cruising in and out of Manukau Harbour before moving on.

Before your tour is through, visit One Tree Hill and Mount Eden. At One Tree Hill, learn a little about the history of the area, and enjoy the surrounding parklands. At Mount Eden, enjoy 360-degree vistas of Auckland and its waterways before returning to the city.

I was unlucky choosing a windy raining day to to a volcanoes tour but Mike (my tour instructor) was so encouraging and turning the adverse weather into a great journey of mountain climbing and volcano exploring! I was so glad that I can visit all the volcanoes and understand its formation/activities and named history ☺️My favorite part is where I can go down the creators to touch the ashes left from these volcanoes! Highly recommend this tour! Don't let nature stop your curiousity !
