Experience the wonder of Shark Bay’s annual whale migration on a 5-hour scenic cruise along the pristine coastline of Dirk Hartog Island. Set out from Denham with experienced guides who share fascinating insights into whale behaviour, migration patterns, and the unique marine ecosystem of Shark Bay, one of the world’s most important habitats for humpback whales. As you glide through calm, protected waters, keep watch for mothers and calves resting during their journey, with opportunities to see dolphins, dugongs, turtles, rays, and seabirds that thrive in this World Heritage Area.
Your journey begins at Shark Bay Eco Tours, where you’ll board a comfortable vessel and head towards the eastern side of Dirk Hartog Island. The tour is led by PADI professional Divemasters, Instructors, and marine biologists, ensuring knowledgeable commentary and a safe, enjoyable experience. While whale sightings are highly likely during the migration season (August to October), nature is unpredictable, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the crew is dedicated to providing an exceptional day on the water, searching for marine wildlife and sharing their passion for the region.
During the cruise, relax with an array of afternoon tea and enjoy two complimentary alcoholic drinks, as well as soft drinks and water. Take in the sweeping ocean views and capture memorable moments with your camera. After spending time observing whales and other marine life, the tour returns to Denham, offering the chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset as the day concludes.
