Description

Venture out of Dublin for a day spent soaking in the history and scenery of Ireland among the emerald hills of the south. Visit mediaeval Blarney Castle, explore cosmopolitan, riverside Cork at your leisure, and stop to see the centuries-old structures atop one of Ireland's wonders—the Rock of Cashel.

Meet your guide and fellow adventurers in central Dublin and head out of town, passing through the horse-dotted pastures of the Curragh in County Kildare until you see the archaeological site of the Rock of Cashel in the distance. Upon arrival at 9 AM, you can see this grassy hill rises from the plains and is crowned by structures built centuries ago. Roam within the walls to gaze up at the 12th-century round tower, peek at the frescoes in the Romanesque chapel, and stand beneath the wooden ceiling of the beautifully restored Hall of the Vicars Choral.

From there, make your way to Blarney Castle, where legends abound. Lay down to kiss the Blarney Stone in exchange for the gift of gab if you'd like, or absorb some of the mystical energy of the Wishing Steps, walking up and down with your eyes closed in hopes of having your wish come true.

Visit Cahair Castle, once the stronghold of the powerful Butler family, the castle retains its impressive keep, tower and much of its original defensive structure. It is one of Ireland's largest and best preserved castles. It is situated on a rocky island on the River Suir.

Ronan was a great guide that shared interesting history facts and fun tidbits, the time seemed to fly by. We enjoyed the music along the way and the tips on authentic pubs. We were a group of 5, ages 8 to 50, and we all enjoyed tbe beautiful castles we visited. We recommend this tour!

I really enjoyed this tour. The tour guide was very informative and had great stories to tell. Blarney Castle and the Rock of Cashel was amazing to see. The only downside of the tour was that Cahir Castle was closed so we didn’t visit that one, but we visited Cork City instead and that was cool to see.
