Overview

  • R​ing of Beara tour through Healy Pass, Derreen Gardens, visit Cable Car station to Dursey Island. Garnish Island optionally (depended on boat availability). Drive through all most colourful villages of Beara Peninsula along the coast with spectacular view at Atlantic Ocean. Visit to Uragh Stone Circle beautifully located between two lakes with a view at mysterious waterfall. As private tour, we can customise it. We can visit some places out of bitten tracks. We can stop whenever we want, also for food in some restaurant serving local people mostly. Private tour is great experience, it gives time and flexibility.

Beautiful spot providing really spectacular view Kenmare bay and Bantry bay on the other side of peninsula. Charming Glanmore lake down below with some rocky islands and really idyllic farmlands.

Derreen Gardens

Derreen Garden. Mysterious land of little Derrinies and lot of exotic plants, specially known because a variety and large size of rhododendrons. Beautiful walk at the little cosy ponds in kind of rain forest.

Ring of Beara

Ring of Beara is loop drive around Beara Peninsula through most colourful villages. Ardgroom, Eyeries and Allihies, villages like from a fairy tale. Castletownbere town is great spot for lunch. Fishing town offering freshest seafood , nearly straight from the boat. Healy Pass in the middle of Beara peninsula is not at the Ring really but must not be skipped. Private tourers can reach this spectacular viewing point. On top we may expect more and more pretty places mostly available for passenger cars and vans only.

Kenmare

Kenmare town (Ceann Mara- head of the sea) Previously Neidin- little nest. 16th, 17th centry town of pirates and smugglers. Charming town designed by Sir Oliver William Petty who was granted this area as a part of payment for mapping of Ireland. He laid out a modern town in 1670. Now Kenmare town is visited by many people because it's beauty.

Molly Gallivan's Cottage & Traditional Farm

Molly Gallivan's cottage is most traditional and authentic old Irish place. Like museum of Irish folklore. Visiting the place is like moving back in time, hundred years ago or more. Even tea is served from a real fireplace.

Allihies Copper Mine Museum

Copper mining in Allihies dates back to 1812. In 1845 mines rreached it's peak and were employing around 1600 people. Mines were suffered with local area after the potato famine. Mines were working up to 1962.

Uragh Stone Circle

Uragh Stone Circle is in exceptional location between two lakes on the heal with spectacular view at Gleninchaquin Waterfall. This impressive monument with tallest stone of 10 feet above the ground and probably 10 feet underground and central stone which was an altar for scarfing victims, maybe humans too.
