Overview

  • The geological and environmental importance of the Costa Quebrada is unmatched.

    Costa Quebrada is a genuine geological catalogue, so its candidacy as a Geopark has been accepted, a figure created by UNESCO in 2015, in which its natural heritage is valued and its cultural heritage has also been taken into account.

    Our tour will take place over 8 kilometres, from Covachos Beach, through La Cubeta in the Arnía, the most photographed and recognisable abrasion platform on the Costa Quebrada; we will see the Pedrondo pit, La Baselga, the inlet of El Portío, Cerrías beach and Somocuevas beach.

    An exciting tour, which will make us discover an unrivalled natural environment. The tour will end in the car park of Arnía beach.

    IMPORTANT : Comfortable and closed shoes, type trainers or trekking and long pants are necessary to avoid chafing with the vegetation. Water to hydrate during the tour.

At this point we will know how Costa Quebrada was formed and the effect of erosion on the coast, with elements such as the hanging valley, El Castro island, tombolo and fossils.

Playa De La Arnia

We'll talk about how this beach formed and the "Colioris" effect. We will also know what an abrasion platform is, as well as the flora and fauna of the area.

Playa Del Portio

  • 30m
After admiring the Pedrondo and Baselga basin, we will arrive at the inlet of El Portío, its beach and islets. In addition to the beach of Cerrías, facing the one of El Portío.

Playa de Somocuevas

On the beach of Somocuevas we will see a beautiful set, making itsmo or union between an islet and the coast.
