First, visit Sounkyo located on the northern slopes of the Daisetsuzan Mountains, in the upper reaches of the Ishikari River, lies a magnificent gorge where towering cliffs of columnar jointing stretch for approximately 24 kilometres.
This land, which the Ainu people called “Kamuy Mintara” (the garden where the gods play), retains its pristine appearance unchanged since ancient times.
