What you can expect

Tailored Tours welcomes you to the wonderful Kingdom of Wessex on a private tour to the stunning scenery of England’s South-West countryside.

Arriving at Stonehenge in the morning gives you the best opportunity for photos without other tourists in the way

Starting the morning in the county of Wiltshire, your very own history expert will introduce you to the world’s most famous prehistoric sight; Stonehenge. Here you will explore all the myths, legends and facts surrounding this legendary monument. Your guide will escort you around the stones, explaining how, when, and why Stonehenge was built. Arriving at the stones in the morning, you will avoid all the busy public tours and get a great view of Stonehenge before the other tours arrive.

After a morning at the stones, we then head North-West through the enchanting Wessex countryside, seeing beautiful thatched cottages and pretty villages as we drive towards the city of Bath. Famed for its unique Georgian architecture, Bath has attracted millions of visitors over the years to ‘take the waters’ and receive free medicinal care for rheumatism and other common problems throughout the 18th Century.

You may also wish to see Bath’s most visited tourist attraction; The Roman Baths. Once known as the city of Aquae Sulis, Bath was first established as a Roman settlement at the end of the 1st Century, and much of the Roman Temple to Sulis Minerva is still visible today! Walk on 2000 year old Roman paving as you explore this fascinating mix of Roman and Celtic Mythology.

After stopping in the city for a couple of hours, we then head back to London through the picturesque county of Gloucestershire and an area once famous for it’s breed of sheep in The Cotswolds.

You then have the choice of visiting one of two stunning little villages; Castle Combe or Lacock. Your guide with speak with you in the morning and help you decide which village you would like to see.

Usually we reccomend starting this tour at 07:30 and it will finish around 18:00. However, this can be amended to fit your personal needs.
