What you can expect

Take a tour through the world of rare species and lush rainforest on the cliffs and headlands of Bako National Park. This journey lets you admire the pristine scenery of land and water around Sarawak's oldest national park, along with the remarkable diversity of plant and animal life within.

A 90-minute trip from Kuching by car and longboat brings you to this small peninsula, home to several distinct rainforest ecosystems and a lively variety of flora and fauna. Watch for the bizarre proboscis monkeys, silvered langurs, and long-tailed macaques, plus wild boars, flying squirrels, monitor lizards, and hundreds of species of birds.

Along with the unique geology of the coastline, you get a look at fascinating plant life including mangroves, strangling figs, carnivorous jug plants, and symbiotic ant plants. Well-marked trails lead to rugged jungle-covered hilltops and secluded beaches, where you can enjoy a packed lunch and admire the scenery before your ride back to Kuching.
