Description

It is not sensible to shop on an empty stomach in our opinion, so our Made in Delhi shopping tour will begin with some deliciously spiced Indian rolls from our favourite joint at the market. It’s one of the oldest food vendors in the area. Next we’ll head over to a locally owned fashion store to check out their impressive collection of readymade kurtis, beautiful stoles and kurtas for men. Here you will observe the tailors at work and admire their old-style stitching techniques. On our way to the next stop, we’ll stroll through the sprawling buzz of the main market, stopping off to showcase some of the best artisan products on offer. We’ll arrive at an emporium inspired by Gandhi’s encouragement of his people to build and maintain village industries that supported local workers and artisans. You will find exquisite Indian fabrics, intricate sarees and other traditional fashions here, all of which support the local weavers and other nearby village industries. Handicrafts, handmade bags, handbags, jewellery and colourful umbrellas are next on our shopping list. Your guide will give you a few hints on how to haggle if you see anything you fancy.

It wouldn’t be a proper tour in India if we didn’t visit a temple. Hanuman is one of the oldest temples in the country and quite possibly one of the five temples of the Mahabharata. Outside the temple, you will meet a local henna expert, you can get a design painted on your hands.
