Stop At: Lothal, Saragwala Village, Dholka Taluka, Ahmedabad 382230 India

Lothal was one of the southernmost cities of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation, located in the Bhāl region of the modern state of Gujarāt and first inhabited c. 3700 BCE.
Lothal, literally “Mound of the Dead”, is the most extensively excavated site of Harappan culture in India, and therefore allows the most insight into the story of the Indus Valley Civilisation, its exuberant flight, and its tragic decay.

The rulers of Nawanagar state were very much interested in the progress and development work of this state along with the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. In addition, to install a museum at Jamnagar, the Lakhota Kotha was allocated to the State Archaeological Department and for this, his personal collection was also given to the museum.
