Description

Lord of the Rings fans unite on this tour of the sprawling New Zealand countryside, where the majority of the famous film series was filmed. Visit locations you remember from the films, explore the stunning natural environment and learn secrets of how the films' epic scenes came to be.

The tour begins as you visit filming locations used around Wellington. Head to the lush pastures of Mount Victoria and enjoy a guided walking tour of the city's green belt, which became the Outer Shire in The Lord of the Rings. Afterward, leave the Wellington metropolis behind and journey to the heart of Middle-Earth.

Listen as your knowledgeable guide informs you of different filming locations along your ride through the area. Your small group continues on to the Weta Workshop for a behind-the-scenes tour of the production company that rose to fame for bringing Tolkien's creations to the screen.

The half-day tour heads back to Wellington here, while the full-day group moves on to the Scorch-O-Rama café, where you can satisfy an orc-sized appetite with a delicious Lord of the Rings-themed menu. Afterward, the group visits the Hutt Valley to see famous filming locations such as Harcourt Park, which was used as the gardens of Isengard, and Kaitoke Regional Park, the setting for Rivendell.

Chat with your fellow Lord of the Rings fans and the friendly guides on the drive back to Wellington, and be sure to learn more about the films than you ever thought you could.

Amazing things to look at - especially at weta workshop. Didn’t have to climb up mount Victoria as it was included in the half day tour. Interesting LOTR film locations.
