What you can expect

Begin with a friendly welcome and introduction to the instruments and the menu. Start by tasting a light selection of Kenyan bites — options may include mandazi, samosas, bhajia, viazi karai, or seasonal favourites. These snacks set the tone for a relaxed and authentic atmosphere before you dive into the rhythm. As you enjoy the flavours, Senyor C-Jeys will share the cultural meaning behind some of the foods and how they connect with daily Nairobi life.

Next, step into the world of African drumming. Whether you’re a beginner or already musical, you’ll quickly feel at home. Senyor C-Jeys guides you through simple hand techniques and rhythms that build into an exciting call-and-response pattern. Drumming is a huge part of Kenyan heritage, and you’ll understand why—it’s joyful, energising, and incredibly connecting.

Once you’re comfortable, join a live mini-jam session. This is where the magic happens: play alongside a real Nairobi artist as he blends traditional beats with his signature melodies and Swaspanglish flow. Guests often describe this moment as the “soul” of the experience—a powerful mix of creativity, unity, and pure Nairobi energy.

After the jam, the food element continues with a tasting plate featuring a mix of authentic Kenyan dishes. Depending on the day, you might enjoy ugali bites, grilled skewers, spiced potatoes, local sauces, or vegetarian Kenyan favourites. This is not a full meal, but a curated tasting designed to introduce you to Kenya’s flavours in a fun and social way. Learn where the dishes come from, how they’re prepared, and which communities are known for them. It becomes a beautiful blend of food and culture.

With the energy high, shift into a short dance and movement session. Nothing intense—just simple steps matched to the rhythm you’ve learned. Even if you don’t dance, the moment is fun, relaxed, and perfect for laughing, connecting, and enjoying the Nairobi spirit.

As the experience winds down, there is time for open conversation. Ask anything—about music, Nairobi culture, local life, creativity, or the inspiration behind Senyor C-Jeys’ artistic journey. This part makes the experience feel personal and memorable, giving you insight into Nairobi beyond the usual tourist spots.

Before you leave, you’ll have time to take photos and videos. If you want, your host can record short clips of you drumming or dancing so you can share your Nairobi rhythm moment with friends and followers.
