Eat well and travel often, they say. Well we say, ‘Eat local wherever you travel’ and in this tour package you not only get to eat local but also with a local Newari family in their house.

The Newars are the original habitant of Kathmandu and are known for their colourful festivals and for their mouth-watering cuisine. And in this package, you will be met by our tour representative at your hotel and you will be driven you will be driven to a Newari host family. Upon reaching the family, you will be welcomed with a Sagun procession thus blessing you. After the procession, red vermillion powder will be applied on your forehead and you will also be offered a red scarf as a symbol of respect.

Once you get to know the family, the conversation will revolve around the Newar’s culture, tradition, gods, food and wine. While the conversation goes on, some of the members of the family, mostly the mother who usually have years of experience cooking and serving guests will prepare a meal for you in the kitchen. The meal will most probably include rice, lentils, green vegetables, buff, pickle and yoghurt, and will be served to you when it’s prepared.

The day will be one filled with laughter, good food and a wonderful insight into the lives of one of the most vibrant cast of Nepal.
