Located directly beside the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the museum provides visitors with a powerful and educational insight into one of Southeast Asia’s most significant wartime histories. The modern, air-conditioned exhibition presents real stories, historical evidence, and personal testimonies that bring the past to life.

Perfect for travellers seeking both natural beauty and profound history.

Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre and Memorial Walking Trail

  • 50m
Hellfire Pass, known in Thai as Chong Khao Khat, is one of the most powerful historical landmarks in Thailand, located in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. It is part of the famous Thailand–Burma Railway (Death Railway) built during World War II using forced labour from Allied prisoners of war and Asian civilians. The name “Hellfire Pass” came from the haunting scene during construction, when prisoners worked day and night cutting through solid mountain rock by hand under torchlight, creating a fire-like glow that resembled the gates of hell. Today, the site stands as a peaceful memorial honouring those who suffered and lost their lives, transforming history into a place of remembrance, reflection, and learning.
