What you can expect

  • Travel through Dominica’s scenic countryside to Kalinago Barana Aute, a cultural heritage centre in the Kalinago Territory.

Explore the centre with a guide and learn about Kalinago history, architecture, traditional livelihoods, craft heritage, food cultivation, and the relationship between the Kalinago people and Dominica’s natural environment.

Walk through the heritage site to see traditional structures and cultural exhibits overlooking the Atlantic coast. Depending on the centre’s programme and the availability of community practitioners, guests may also observe a scheduled craft, cassava-processing, canoe-building, storytelling, or cultural demonstration.

These live demonstrations and individual community encounters are not guaranteed unless confirmed for the selected date. The core experience is a guided cultural and historical visit to Kalinago Barana Aute.

Information about the traditional cultural uses of plants and herbs is provided for educational purposes and is not medical advice.

If Kalinago Barana Aute becomes unavailable, you will be offered a comparable cultural experience at no additional cost. You may accept the alternative or cancel the affected booking for a full refund.
