What you can expect
Experience the underwater brilliance of Julian Rocks Marine Reserve. Swim with marine life such as turtles and manta rays, as well as interesting Southern Ocean animals like blue gropers and wobbegong sharks.
Make your way to Byron Bay Dive Centre where you will be greeted by your friendly instructor. Firstly, you will watch a video about your first scuba diving experience followed by a pool session covering everything you need to know for your ocean dive. Once you've mastered the necessary skills, you will receive an in-depth briefing about the ocean dive and then hop on board a boat and travel just a short 5-10 minute boat ride to Julian Rocks. Along the way keep an eye out for whales (June - November) and dolphins.
Next, jump into the water with your instructor, immersing yourself in this colourful world where tropical and temperate waters merge. Julian Rocks is one of the few dive sites where you can swim with tropical species found on the Great Barrier Reef as well animals from Australia’s deep Southern Ocean.
For all introductory dive tours, you will be supervised by a qualified scuba diving instructor who will ensure you get the most from your trip to Julian Rocks Marine Reserve.
When you return to the dive shop there are hot showers and your instructor will present you with a certificate of completion!
Please note that we operate on NSW daylight savings time (we are 1 hour ahead of Queensland between October to April).
