What you can expect

  • Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your hotel or B&B and set off on a private tour of Hadrian’s Wall. As you travel, listen to your guide’s commentary and gain a deeper understanding of Roman Britain.

Choose between two options: a full-day or a half-day experience. The Roman Army Museum and its 3D video are included only in the full-day option, while both options include a visit to the ruins of Vindolanda, home to a world-famous collection of Roman artefacts, and access to ongoing archaeological work where you might even witness a new discovery.

Stop at two places along the Wall itself and admire the magnificent scenery that the Romans built the Wall through. See the sheep, including adorable lambs in spring.

There is a great café at Vindolanda or a nearby restaurant, the Twice Brewed, which is more of a restaurant.

Finally, return to your hotel or B&B with a deeper understanding of the Roman Empire’s most northerly frontier.
