Discover Hakodate’s rich history, ancient culture, and seasonal beauty on a private 9-hour tour with a Japanese-speaking driver-guide. From Jomon heritage and a historic star-shaped fortress to spring cherry blossoms and tranquil lakes, this journey combines culture and nature in every season.
Begin at Goryokaku Park, one of Hakodate’s most iconic landmarks. In spring, around 1,500 cherry trees surround the star-shaped fort with pink blossoms, typically from late April to early May. Outside blossom season, enjoy summer greenery, autumn colours, and winter snowscapes while discovering the area's late Edo-period history. Depending on your interests and schedule, you may also visit Goryokaku Tower or the reconstructed Hakodate Magistrate’s Office.
Continue to the Hakodate Jomon Culture Centre, where archaeological exhibits reveal life in prehistoric Hokkaido. See ancient pottery, fascinating artefacts, and the National Treasure Hollow Dogu clay figurine. This museum adds a distinctive cultural dimension to your journey, connecting the region’s present-day landscapes with thousands of years of human history.
Next, explore Onuma Quasi-National Park, known for its scenic lakes, small islands, wooded trails, and views of Mount Komagatake. Discover fresh spring greenery, serene summer waters, brilliant autumn foliage, or snowy winter scenery. A stop at Yamakawa Farm Milk Plant adds a taste of Hokkaido’s countryside, with local milk and creamy soft-serve ice cream to enjoy when the shop is open and the schedule allows.
Enjoy the comfort of private transport and the freedom to shape your sightseeing pace. Within the planned route, you can spend more or less time at individual attractions, skip a stop, or request small adjustments to nearby locations. Major route changes, lengthy detours, and distant destinations are not included. Please discuss any adjustments with your driver-guide so the journey stays within the agreed tour duration.
The tour includes up to 9 hours of driving, sightseeing, breaks, and pickup and drop-off in Hakodate, with a scheduled finishing time no later than 8:00 PM (20:00). If the agreed tour duration or scheduled finishing time is exceeded, additional overtime charges may apply and are payable directly to the driver on-site. This tour is operated by a Japanese-speaking driver-guide only; English- or Chinese-language guiding is not available.
Cherry blossoms are a seasonal highlight rather than a guaranteed sight, as blooming dates depend on the weather. While the tour is offered year-round, museum closing days, seasonal operating hours, road conditions, and weather may affect access to certain attractions or walking routes. Nearby alternatives or reasonable itinerary adjustments may be arranged. Admission fees, meals, optional activities, and personal purchases are excluded unless your booking states otherwise.
