What you can expect
Venture out of the city for a day spent among the adorable animals of Matang Wildlife Centre. Spot orangutans, binturongs, and civets being rehabilitated to survive in the wild, and then set out for a rainforest hike to see jungle waterfalls and exotic plants in Kubah National Park.
Get picked up at your hotel in the morning for the short drive to the Matang Wildlife Centre, located in the heart of Kubah National Park. This facility serves as a rehabilitation centre for animals that have been orphaned or rescued from captivity, and the expert caretakers here focus on training them how to survive in the wild.
Roam around the spacious enclosures and jungle trails to see exotic animals like orangutans, sun bears, binturong, civets, sambar deer, and barking deer. You can also get up close to prickly porcupines and even lazy crocodiles.
Pop into the aviary to spot birds like hornbills, brahminy kites, and sea eagles, and then sit down to lunch to fuel up for your hike. Follow your guide along rainforest trails through Kubah National Park, passing by cascading waterfalls, lush jungle foliage, and rare vegetation like flowering orchids and jug plants.
