What you can expect
Discover the wild beauty of the Danube Delta on a 3–4 hour guided kayak tour around the traditional village of Mila 23.
We begin at the floating pontoon of ture cu caiacul, located on the main branch of the Danube. Before launching, you will take part in a 30-minute safety briefing and paddling instruction. This introduction is suitable for beginners and covers basic techniques, safety rules, and how to handle the kayak comfortably and efficiently.
Once ready, we launch gently from the pontoon and start paddling into the quiet channels that surround Mila 23. Very soon, the noise of motorboats fades away and we enter a peaceful world of reeds, water lilies, and bird calls.
Our route takes us through Eracle Canal, and after on Bracliva, a narrow and scenic waterway bordered by reeds and tall willow trees. From here, we continue towards Rădăcinos Lake, a beautiful open lake where pelicans, herons, cormorants, and other water birds are often seen feeding or resting. The wide horizon and calm waters make this area perfect for photography and wildlife observation.
We then paddle towards Trei Iezere Lake, a more secluded and intimate area of the Delta, known for its rich biodiversity and tranquil atmosphere.
During the tour, we stop for a short break on the water or along a safe natural edge, where you can rest, take photos, enjoy a snack, or even swim on warm summer days. This pause gives you time to fully absorb the silence and rhythm of the Delta.
The experience is relaxed and suitable for people with average physical condition. No previous kayaking experience is required. We paddle at an easy pace, with frequent opportunities to observe wildlife and learn about the local ecosystem, traditions, and way of life in Mila 23.
After the kayak tour, you can explore the village of Mila 23, one of the oldest settlements in the Danube Delta, and visit the Ivan Patzaichin Museum.
Also you can try traditional local dishes at one of the guesthouses in the village.
Join us for a peaceful adventure in one of Europe’s last great wilderness areas, Danube Delta.
