Itinerary 7:00 AM: Departure from the city of Baños de Agua Santa by private vehicle or from the city of Quito. 9:30 AM: Arrival at the first station "Control Caspi", located at 3,200 metres (10,498 feet). 10:00 AM: Continue by vehicle to the Interpretation Centre "Mariscal Sucre", located at 3800 metres (12,467 feet). Visit the centre for 30 minutes to learn about the flora, fauna and history of the Cotopaxi volcano. 11:00 AM: Travel by vehicle to the car park located at 4500 metres (14.763 feet). 11:45 PM: Start of the walk to the José Rivas Refuge, the only refuge of the Cotopaxi, located at 4800 metres (15,748 feet). The ascent lasts about 1 hour. 1:00 PM: Arrival at the José Rivas Refuge. 1:30 PM: In favourable weather conditions, you can continue the hike to the glaciers of the volcano. 2:00 PM: Descent of the volcano to the car park, lasting approximately 1 hour. 3:00 PM: Lunch. 6:00 PM: Arrival in the city of Baños or Quito.
