Description

Explore southern Ireland with a day away from Dublin in County Cork. Hear the history of the famous Blarney Castle and partake in the tradition of kissing the Blarney Stone. Discover Cork's maritime past as you tour some of the city's highlights, including the famous harbour and island town of Cobh.

Speed through the beautiful Irish countryside travelling by train to Cork. Here, board the coach to Blarney Castle and learn about the 13th-century citadel. Seek out the Blarney Stone at the top of the fortress, hang upside down to kiss it, and as legend goes, receive the gift of eternal eloquence.

Journey back to Cork where your guide leads you to the top sights in town, including Cobh, a port town on an island in the harbour. Famous for being the Titanic's last stop before its infamous voyage, Cobh has a rich nautical past. It's the site from which millions of Irish people seeking new lives in America emigrated. Hop back on the train for the return trip to Dublin.

Our tour was canceled due to my husband and I were the only 2 people to sign up. We arranged our entire trip before we arrived in Ireland. Therefore, this gave us a day we had to scramble to find events and exhibits to see. We have traveled extensively in Europe and have been the only participants on other tours and have never had one cancell on us. If there is a limit to the number of people it takes to give a tour they shod put that on writing. Not spring it on you. I do mot recommend this tour.

Had a wonderful day. The train was convenient. Would have enjoyed more time at Blarney. There is so much to see there. The museum at Cobh was nice and the cathedral but the time spend there and the stop at the graveyard would have been better spent at Blarney and maybe more of a city tour of Cork
