What you can expect

Take a break from your cruise and tour the sights of Tauranga and the surrounding area. Relax as your guide treats you to authentic North Island experiences, including scenic viewpoints, historic parts of Tauranga, and even a local kiwi orchard.

Get picked up from your cruise ship and drive along Pilot Bay towards Mount Mauganui, an extinct volcano known by locals as “The Mount.” This magnificent outcropping is a popular holiday destination for Kiwis—at certain times of the year the population in the area can almost double. Next, drive along Marine Parade, a scenic stretch of road allowing you to admire the Pacific Ocean and the offshore islands of Major and Motiti.

Head across the harbour on the causeway, arriving in the historic heart of Tauranga, first settled by English missionaries in the 1830s. Drive past the preserved “Elms Mission Station,” once the site of the native Maori Pa (village). Drive west out of the city and witness views of the entire region from the Minden Lookout.

Continue on to a kiwifruit orchard where the guide will give you a short talk on this most iconic New Zealand fruit, perhaps while you enjoy a freshly made fruit ice-cream which can be purchased at the adjacent fresh produce shop.

We then board the coach for the short drive back over the harbour bridge to the ship.

Please note that the order of the tour may vary on certain days.
