Mount Tsukuba (筑波山) is a famous mountain, standing at 877 metres. It is known for its twin peaks, Nyotai-san (877m) and Nantai-san (871m), which are often associated with male and female deities in Japanese mythology. Unlike Mount Fuji, which has a symmetrical shape, Mount Tsukuba is covered in lush greenery and changes colour with the seasons, making it a beautiful sight year-round. The mountain is a popular hiking destination, with several trails leading to the summit, as well as a cable car and ropeway for easier access. At the top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, and on clear days, even see Tokyo and Mount Fuji. The area is also home to Tsukuba Shrine, a historic site that has been a place of worship for centuries.

Kijo Park, located in Tsuchiura City, is a historical site built on the grounds of the former Tsuchiura Castle. The park preserves several features of the original castle, including the East and West Towers, main gates, and water moats. One of the park's notable structures is the yaguramon (turret gate), which is the only remaining one in the Kanto region, highlighting its historical significance. In spring, Kijo Park becomes a popular destination for cherry blossom viewing, with approximately 50 Somei Yoshino cherry trees blooming from late March to early April. The park hosts the Tsuchiura Cherry Blossom Festival during this period, featuring illuminated cherry blossoms and various events that attract numerous visitors.
