Description

With a rugged coastline, species of African game and endemic vegetation, discover the natural wonders of the Cape Peninsula on a half-day tour. Gaze out upon sweeping views of the coastline and enjoy the sight of roaming wild animals as you visit charming shoreline towns.

Jutting into the ocean south of Cape Town is Cape Point – a rocky headland protected by national park status with much to see. Begin at the lookout point at Llandudno, a stretch of white-sand beach with crashing waves making a truly beautiful vista. Continue to Hout Bay to be treated to more impressive views, including a quaint fishing port with a pretty beach backed by mountains.

As you enter the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, watch for wandering game. Troops of baboons are an easy spot, but there are also zebras and rare antelopes roving across the landscape of fynbos shrubbery, famed for its impressive biodiversity.

Continue to Boulders Beach, Simon's Town, for a visit to the enchanting colony of African penguins that have remarkably chosen to settle here. Stroll along the wooden walkways observing the delightful creatures in their natural habitat.

4.5 out of 5

The two destinations (Cape Point and Simon Town) and the scenery along the way were wonderful. However, Ilios Travel misrepresented the half-day nature of the tour (pick up at 8:00 AM but return not until after 2:30 PM). In addition, the assigned tour guide seemed to be more interested in espousing political and social opinions than providing information about our tour.
