Description

A sightseeing drive to the Cape Point Nature reserve and around the Cape Peninsula is a “must do” day trip when visiting Cape Town. The magnificent Cape Point route is one of the great day tours from Cape Town. It is also one of the most remarkable drives anywhere in the world and features steep cliffs, stunning vistas and plenty of sightseeing opportunities!

The tour departs from the Cape Town City Bowl via Sea Point, continuing through Camps Bay Bay for a stop at Maidens Cove for some photo opportunities of the enticing Twelve Apostles mountain range. Just after Camp’s Bay, the tour continues to Hout Bay, situated in the valley of the Atlantic seaboard of the Cape Peninsula.

Your stop in Hout Bay gives you some time for an optional boat trip to Duikers Island also known as “Seal Island” where you can view and appreciate a colony of seals that inhabit Seal Island. With the conclusion of enjoying the Hout Bay sites sets in the breath-taking views of the Atlantic seaboard you proceed with the Cape of Good Hope tour making your way to the famous Chapman’s Peak drive.

From Chapman’s Peak the tour continues to pass Noordhoek. As you pass Noordhoek on this tour you will see an ostrich farm on your left with an opportunity to see the ostriches as you pass by making your way to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. As you enter the reserve, you will stop at Cape of Good Hope for an opportunity to have your photo taken at the famous picture board of the most South Western tip of the African Continent. You will then stop at Cape Point where you will have the option of either walking or taking the funicular ride to the upper lighthouse where you will be able to look at the enticing views of the Cape Peninsula and the surrounding mountain range.

The tour then heads to Boulders Beach where you are offered the opportunity to view a colony of African Jackass Penguins at the penguin colony at close range. The tour continues through Simon’s Town for lunch.

From Simon’s Town the tour proceeds through Fish Hoek, you will then pass Kalk Bay and Muizenberg. The tour will be concluded with a visit to the Kirstenbosch Botanical. Set against the gentle lower slopes of Table Mountain it is the perfect place to unwind after the end of the tour.

Great way to visit The Cape. Exceptional scenery and vistas. Paced beautifully so the group did not need to rush. Only four of us. Our tour guide took great care of us. The only negative was the car. To access the back seat and getting in and out required considerable effort. I would suggest a better vehicle is required as there are many stops along the way. Climbing in and out was very difficult. Overall great value tour.

Good all round day which covers a lot of the key points of interest. I would recommend wearing a pair of shoes suitable for hiking in and layers
