What you can expect

9:00AM Meet + Greet.
We meet all hikers at the North Campground General Store located inside the park near Sunrise Point.
9:15AM Depart for Hiking Trail

  1. Sunrise Point: Our first viewpoint of the Bryce Canyon amphitheatre! Sunrise point is so named as it gives the best view of the hoodoos at Sunrise. From here we will discuss the way the canyon erodes over time, and the driving forces behind the erosion.
  2. Walking on the Edge: From Sunrise point we will hike along the Rim Trail towards Sunset Point. As you may have put together, this is the best point to view the sunset in Bryce Canyon. This viewpoint offers a view of the Wall Street slot canyon.
  3. Descent: From Sunset Point, we will enter the canyon, travelling by either the Two Bridges trail, or the Wall Street Trail, whichever is desired/open. Each trail provides spectacular views, and a fun switchback trail towards the canyon floor. As we hike, we will discuss different environmental circumstances that led to the unique erosion of Bryce.
  4. (Optional) Peek-A-Boo Loop: For hikers wishing for a longer/more strenuous hike, the Peek-A-Boo loop can be included. This trail adds 3 miles to the hike.
  5. Forest: After descending into the canyon, we will hike the connecting trail among the junipers, ponderosas, and manzanitas. We will discuss some of the wildlife, and how they interact with the forest.
  6. The Queens Garden: After finishing the connecting trail, we will intersect with the Queens Garden Trail. This trail has a small side detour, by which we can get a better view of the rock formation called Queen Victoria.
  7. Ascent: After visiting Queen Victoria, we will begin our ascent out of the canyon. There are many arches and passages which make for incredible photos. As we hike out, we will take opportunities to catch our breath, and discuss some of the formations, as well as the park’s (and the worlds!) oldest tree variety, which is visible near the trail.
  8. Lunch: Charcuterie Board style picnic with Cured Meats (includes pork), cheeses, crackers, spreads, fruit, crackers, and nuts. Vegan, Vegetarian, and G/F available with 48hr notice.
1:00PM-3:00PM Depart Bryce Canyon National Park.
