Description

Experience a day of Auckland’s natural contrast. See the city's best sights in the morning; in the afternoon, take a trip to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Explore the history of Auckland as well as its lush rainforests and black sandy beaches.

Start your tour with a hotel pick-up in the morning and travel through Auckland's central business district. Pass by the city’s oldest park, the Domain, and continue through the picturesque suburb of Ponsonby, known for its historic buildings.

Head over the Harbour Bridge to Auckland's North Shore and stop in historic Devonport for a stroll on Narrow Neck beach. Then enjoy panoramic views of Auckland from the summit of Mount Victoria. Continue to Westhaven Marina, one of the largest marinas in the Southern Hemisphere. Your guide will give you an insight into the Maori history of the area and the legends and stories behind some of the place names.

In the afternoon, journey to the Waitakere Ranges, a line of hills separating Auckland from its surf-fringed west coast. Stop at the Arataki Visitor Center, the gateway to the regional park. Take in breathtaking views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean.

Join a guided bush walk in the lush rainforest and marvel at New Zealand's famous kauri trees & giant tree ferns. Stroll along magnificent coastal beaches and feel the black sand beneath your toes. After a day of exploring Auckland, your transfer drops you off at your hotel.

An interesting tour - it gave a nice overview of the area. The staff was all very friendly. Kevin started out day, then Warren and Felicity took us out to the west coast. Felicity was a little harder to follow and hear, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Our biggest complaint by far was being rushed for lunch and trying eat on the bus. Making a short stop so everyone can sit down and eat would be a good choice.
