Agios Ioannis Beach

  • 2h
Nestled in the green valley of Neo Prokopi in northern Euboea, the Church of Saint John the Russian stands as one of Greece’s most revered pilgrimage sites. It houses the miraculously preserved, incorrupt relics of Saint John, a humble 18th-century soldier captured by Ottoman forces. Despite his enslavement in Asia Minor, his profound humility, kindness, and unwavering faith won him deep respect. In 1924, during the population exchange, Greek refugees brought his sacred relics to Euboea, establishing a new sanctuary. Today, thousands of believers from across the globe visit this peaceful church to pray, seeking comfort and healing. It remains a powerful testament to enduring faith, spiritual devotion, and deep Christian tradition.
