Discover Ashikaga, a historic samurai town often called “Little Kyoto.” Visit Banna-ji Temple and Ashikaga School, the oldest school in Japan, and take in panoramic views from Orihime Shrine, famous for its rare seven-colored torii gates.

You will also be exclusively welcomed by a local resident dressed in full samurai armour — a unique and memorable experience.

Ashikaga Machinaka Yugakukan

Visit Machinaka Yūgakukan, where you can explore Ashikaga’s history and cultural heritage through engaging models and visual displays. Discover the legacy of the Ashikaga clan and the culture that flourished during the Muromachi period (14th–16th century). Samurai armour rental is available for a limited number of guests (up to 4 people) and requires advance reservation. This is a unique opportunity to experience the town as a samurai and capture memorable photos.

Banna-ji Temple Hondo

Explore Banna-ji Temple, a National Treasure with deep ties to samurai history. Originally built on the residence of the Ashikaga clan, the temple is surrounded by a moat, giving it the atmosphere of a fortress. Banna-ji Temple Otamaya
