Depart at 08:40 from the meeting point and begin your scenic journey towards the northern coast of Kyoto, where mountains, coastline, and traditional landscapes come together in one of Japan’s most iconic regions. As you leave the city behind, enjoy a peaceful drive through changing scenery that gradually opens into coastal views and countryside charm.

Kyoto Eki Hachijo Guchi

  • 1h 20m
Depart at 09:50 from Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit, in front of the Station Sightseeing Bus Parking Area. Meet your guide and begin your scenic journey towards the northern coastal region of Kyoto, where the city gradually gives way to mountains, rivers, and coastal landscapes. Settle in and enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the urban area behind and head towards one of Japan’s most iconic coastal destinations.

Amanohashidate

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Arrive at Amanohashidate around 11:20 and spend approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes exploring one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views. This extraordinary sandbar, covered with thousands of pine trees, stretches across the sea like a natural bridge between heaven and earth. A popular local tradition is to view the scenery upside down by bending forward and looking through your legs, creating a unique and playful perspective of this famous landscape. During your visit, you may take the ropeway or monorail up to Amanohashidate View Land (ticket not included, approx. JPY 1000) for a panoramic observation of the sandbar and surrounding bay, where the landscape resembles a dragon ascending into the sky. You will also have time to explore Chionji Temple nearby, known for its peaceful atmosphere and cultural significance. Lunch is at your own expense, allowing you to choose from local restaurants at your own pace.

Hyakumanben Chion-ji Temple

  • 30m
Begin your visit with Chion-ji Temple, known for its connection to academic success and peaceful atmosphere. Admire the impressive temple gate and experience the unique fan-shaped omikuji (fortune-telling papers), a popular cultural highlight among visitors. You may also observe the nearby rotating bridge mechanism that allows large ships to pass through, adding an interesting engineering touch to the scenic area.

Ine no Funaya

  • 1h 20m
Continue your journey to Ine Fishing Village around 14:30, where you will spend approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes discovering one of Japan’s most unique coastal communities. This traditional village is famous for its “funaya” boathouses, built directly along the water, creating a rare and picturesque harmony between daily life and the sea. Stroll along the quiet waterfront and experience the calm, nostalgic atmosphere of this hidden gem, where wooden houses reflect beautifully on the bay. Optional ferry tickets are available (Adults JPY 1200 / Children JPY 600), offering a closer view of the boathouses from the water, along with seagull feeding experiences (JPY 100 per bag). If ferry operations are suspended due to weather conditions, a relaxed walking experience in the village will be provided instead, ensuring you still enjoy the scenery from land.

Osaka

  • 1h 30m
After a full day exploring Amanohashidate’s legendary views and Ine’s peaceful seaside village, begin your return journey around 18:00. Sit back and relax as you travel back through the scenic landscapes of Kyoto’s northern region, concluding a day filled with iconic views, cultural charm, and unforgettable coastal beauty. This activity ends back at the meeting points.
