Begin your tour with a visit to the Giovanni Paolo II Historical Bell Museum. Admire ancient sacred bronzes, rare manuscripts, historical photographs, and the precious “Bell of the Year 1000.” Through stories, videos, and testimonies, discover the cultural significance of bells and the important role they have played in religious and civic life throughout the centuries.
Next, head to the Marinelli Pontifical Bell Foundry, one of the oldest bell foundries in the world still in operation today. For over a thousand years, the Marinelli family has preserved the art of bell casting, safeguarding a unique tradition that combines craftsmanship, music, history, and spirituality.
Observe the traditional techniques still used today to create bells destined for churches, cathedrals, and sanctuaries around the world. From mold-making to bronze casting, every stage is carried out by hand according to methods passed down from generation to generation.
At the end of the tour, visit the official Marinelli shop, where handcrafted Marinelli bells, souvenirs, books dedicated to the art of bell-making, sculptures, and handmade bronze objects are available. Many bells can be personalised with engravings, making them unique keepsakes or original gift ideas connected to Italian tradition.
