What you can expect

  • Your visit to the Aggstein castle ruins starts right at the castle complex high above the Danube. It is easily accessible by car, and there is a car park right in front of the castle. Alternatively, marked hiking trails lead up from the Wachau to the castle ruins.

After paying the entrance fee, you can move freely through the entire castle area, which is open to the public. The walking tour is not limited in time and ends again at the exit in the area of the castle courtyard. During your stay, you can explore the castle courtyards, battlements, vantage points, and historical areas on your own. Audio guides are available on site and provide you with informative commentary on the history of the castle. In the castle courtyard, the castle innkeeper Siegfried invites you to stop for a break during opening hours.

The visit ends again at the castle exit, from where you can go directly to the car park or continue your hike.
