Overview

The horseback riding portion of our tour starts in the historic Chuberi valley, located at the entrance of Enguri river valley in upper Svaneti region. This valley is intricately linked to the Nakra valley via the Utviri pass, offering a captivating journey through rugged terrain.

What sets this area apart is its seclusion from tourist crowds. Here, you'll find yourself amidst untouched wilderness, with the tranquility of nature, exploring a landscape untouched by the masses.

Utviri pass itself is a noteworthy highlight, boasting an alpine lake nestled right on the pass. As we traverse ancient forests and verdant valleys towards Nakra, we'll be accompanied with magnificent views of snow-capped peaks that define the landscape of Svaneti - Ushba, Lahili etc.

Day 1: Tbilisi – Zugdidi (By Train) – Kvemo Marghi

Early morning, at 8:00 we depart to Zugdidi by train. After arrival, we’ll have lunch at the local restaurant, take a 4x4 car and head to Chuberi Valley in Svaneti. Overnight at the local wooden cottage in Kvemo Marghi.
Day 2: Kvemo Marghi – Utviri Pass – Village Nakra

Utviri Pass

Early morning we’ll meet our horses and team, saddle up and head towards Utviri pas via the dirt road, will pass Zemo Marghi, dense pine forest and get to the pass by midday. After lunch break. After pass we’ll start descending down 13 more km and and get to the village of Nakra. Overnight at the local home stay. Riding distance – 30km Difficulty: hard
Day 3: Nakra – Tsaleri – Phari - Etseri

Upper Svaneti

Our journey begins as we set out to explore the many small villages of upper Svaneti, scattered along the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountains. These villages are adorned with ancient architectural marvels, including small chapels adorned with frescoes dating back to the IX-XII centuries, as well as towers housing Machubis from various periods. Riding distance 25km Difficulty: medium
Day 4: Etseri – Mazeri - Ushba Waterfalls

Mountain Ushba

The day route takes us along the old path over the Mezeri pass to impress us with the majesty of Mount Usba from the front face. after a short break and photo session we’ll head down to crazy Dolra river, cross and follow upwards waterfalls. Riding distance 25km Difficulty: medium
Day 5: Mazeri – Guli pass – Mestia

This is one of the routes that take you as close to Mt. Ushba as one can. We’ll ride up until Guli pass (2930m) and descend on foot to Koruldi lakes where we ride again and descend down to Mestia Overnight in Mestia at the guest house. Riding distance –26km Difficulty: very hard
Day 6: Transfer Back to Tbilisi
