Bomdila Monastery is a prominent Buddhist monastery located in the town of Bomdila in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. Also known as Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery, it was established in the year 1965 by the 12th reincarnate of Tsona Gontse Rinpoche. Built on a hilltop, the monastery offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape and the township below. It connects the Buddhist town of Tawang to Dirang, Guwahati, and Tezpur, and is the main route to the rest of India. The pass is known for its scenic beauty and is surrounded by snow. Sela Pass is open throughout the year, but the best months to visit are October, November, March, April, and May when there is less chance of snow.
