The Red Fort, built by the Mughal in 1638, is a red sandstone compound in Old Delhi. It was intended to keep out intruders, but it won’t keep out you! If you admire Mahatma Gandhi, pay your tributes at Raj Ghat, the memorial built at the site of his cremation. And just a couple of hours from New Delhi in Uttar Pradesh is India’s most mind-blowing mausoleum – the white marble wonder known as the Taj Mahal.

Although it will never be the party capital of the world, Delhi has its share of nightlife from sports bars to cocktail lounges, and those looking to do a little socialising won’t be left wanting.
