Magnetic Island

This island is home to Queensland’s largest colony of cuddly residents. No, we’re not talking about the friendly locals, but about the koalas living in the wild.

Magnetic Island sure has a pull on everyone who has ever had the pleasure of setting foot on this mountainous island in Cleveland Bay. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump away from Townsville (although you could also just take a ferry) and plenty of people call it home. But, what makes Maggie so irresistible is that most of the island has been preserved as a national park. Hike, swim, beach comb, snorkel all you like. Bliss!
