Conveniently located in Manhattan and near the subway stations that can take you around to many tourist attractions in NYC.
The Hyatt Place New York/ Chelsea was booked for my 5-day vacation, with a city view, which is exactly what I got when checking in. It’s an awesome view of the Empire State Building, SUMMIT One and even the Edge Observation Deck in Hudson Yards. You can even see Times Square when walking north on 7th Ave.
Some things to note about is that there can be a long wait for the 4 elevators: the longest time I had to wait was maybe 10-15 mins to get downstairs to the lobby. Breakfast was “ok”. I went down when it specified the least busiest times, which was 6:30am, but it was packed. Plumbing was also an issue for me for the sink and toilet. The thermostat seemed to not work either cause I was freezing most of the time.
One of the things I would also caution to guests is to check the ratings for the third-party shuttle services Hyatt offers. I unfortunately didn’t, and I regret it. The shuttle was 30 mins late, and already full, they ended up shoving my luggage and I had to sit in the front passenger seat—which was very uncomfortable and the driving maneuvers were dangerous, in my opinion.
On the positive side: housekeeping was done really well, and I was always given a fresh set of towels and my bed was always made up by the time I’d return back in the afternoons.
