I consider Marco Polo my home whenever i visit. I can count on their consistent service and cleanliness. This time around i was disappointed in many areas. First there was no recognition this time of me coming back. Seems they have lost my stay history or something cause it took them awhile to find my number. 2nd morning of my stay we were woken up at 830 with banging and drilling without advance notice. We had to request to replenish toiletries. Bed linens were not changed for 4 nights we were there at least once. Shower drain was clogged and so we took a shower in tub then that became slow draining too. I love Marco Polo and plan to still stay there in the future. I hope they get their act together.

The property was okay, but it did not feel like a 5-star hotel experience. The luggage deck was not clean when I walked in. The toiletries, particularly the shower gel, seemed diluted. I'm not sure if this property supports sustainability, but when I asked for water refill, the front desk person said they could give more bottled water (single-use plastics). They didn't have water refilling station. So I then asked if I could get a glass pitcher. I was served with a stainless pitcher, the one used in restaurants by servers, not glass pitchers that we now often see in a lot of hotels. This was a disappointment for a "5-star" hotel. Also, the buffet breakfast was a major letdown. Most of what I had tasted bland and uninspired. The sushis looked like those display, plastic models you see in restaurant fronts - dry, unappetizing, almost inedible. Nobody was touching them when I was there. Coffee tasted like they were brewed from a machine that hasn't been cleaned in a month. The supposedly "fresh" breads (sourdoughs) looked styrofoam-dry. I left Cucina after just 15minutes, and did not avail of their free breakfast the next day. It's that disappointing. Finally, most of the staff I encountered lacked warmth and enthusiasm. There were probably only 2 staff members who smiled and greeted me during my entire stay. The rest seemed unhappy in their job. I just chalk it up to bad timing since it's New Year's Day and the day after. But hospitality should have no bad timing.
